I was born in 1987. I went to PAFA and graduated in 2009. In between I was baptized and confirmed, lived near the schuylkill river, and went to musical theater camp. During and after PAFA I lived in Philadelphia and held various jobs while making work in my home. I am married without children and I do not have a bachelor's degree.
My work attempts to engage with the endless through natural and man-made labyrinthine forms. Meditative channeling, intuition, and memory are compiled; forming imagery as wooded areas or empty rooms. As my current practice develops, I see more images taking the shape of dreams from my childhood, which were the context for violent visions. In response to this revelation I have been creating the occupants of these spaces in paper mache and polymer clay. The dream figures have expressions of joy, whether outright jubilation or a dumbfounded bliss, each becomes self portraiture. My paintings of animals and people are an exploration of mediated interaction and alienation. Animals are solitary, struggling with themselves and others. For the subjects capable of language there are conversations between individuals that do not exchange information but project themselves onto each other and the viewer.
